Choose Life license plates
Choose Life license plates are specialty license plates available in 24 states in the United States that express a pro-life message. The plates are the concept of Choose Life, Inc., a pro-life advocacy group based in Ocala, Florida.[1] It was founded in 1997 by Randy Harris, a commissioner of Marion County, after he got an idea (when he noticed an environmental plate on the car in front of him, while stuck in traffic) to use specialty license plates as a way to raise funds for promoting adoption over abortion.[2] The plates feature the phrase "Choose Life", a slogan used by the pro-life movement, and a child art-like drawing of two children.[2] Florida Choose Life tag Contents 1 History 2 States with Choose Life license plates 2.1 States where Choose Life is working for approval 3 Reaction and criticism 4 See also 5 References 6 External links [edit] History In 1997, Choose Life, Inc. collected the 10,000 signatures and US$30,000 required under Florida law at the ... United States license plate designs and serial formats
Main article: Vehicle registration plates of the United States In the United States, the appearance of license plates is frequently chosen to contain staples, cultures, or slogans associated with the issuing jurisdiction, which are the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, each of which independently registers motor vehicles. Formats for license plate numbers, which are usually alphanumeric, are chosen to provide enough unique serials for all motor vehicles a jurisdiction expects to register. For example, less-populous states such as Delaware and Rhode Island are able to use formats of 123456 and 123-456, respectively, while several populous states use seven-character formats, including 1ABC234 in California, AB1-C234 in Texas,[1] ABC-1234 in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, and Arizona, 1A/B2345 in Maryland, A12-3456 in Illinois, and 1234ABC in Indiana.[2] In some states, info such as the month of expiration or the county of regist... Vehicle registration plates of Abkhazia
Current Abkhazian vehicle registration plate as of 2008[update]. In use. In use. The government of the Republic of Abkhazia, which considers itself independent from Georgia, issues its own vehicle registration plates for the motor vehicles registered in the territory it controls. The design of the plates is based on that of Russian license plates, but Abkhazian plates lack the regional coding of Russian plates and substitute the flag of Abkhazia and the code "ABH" for the flag of Russia and the code "RUS". The license plate serial format consists a letter followed by three numbers and then two more letters. The letters are Cyrillic, but only thirteen letters reminiscent of letters of the Latin alphabet are used: А, Б, В, Е, К, М, Н, О, Р, С, Т, У, and Х. In the territory controlled by the government of Georgia (before 2008), the Georgian license plates were issued. Since 2004, cars with Georgian plates prohibited in Abkhazia, as are Abkhazian plates in... (see more)
