  • 2010 student protest in Dublin

    "Education Not Emigration" The 2010 student protest in Dublin was a demonstration that took place in the centre of the city on 3 November 2010 in opposition to a proposed increase in university registration fees, further cuts to the student maintenance grant and increasing graduate unemployment and emigration levels caused by the 28th Government of Ireland.[1] Organized by the Union of Students in Ireland (USI) and students unions nationwide, it saw between 25,000 and 40,000 protesters on the streets of central Dublin during what The Irish Times described as "the largest student protest for a generation".[2] The protestors came from all over Ireland – students from most third-level colleges featured, as did some protestors from Queen's University Belfast[3][4] – with many travelling to the city by coach.[2] It took more than an hour and a half for all the protestors to walk from Parnell Square to Government Buildings in Merrion Street, a short distance.[2][5] Some protesto...     The British Neuroscience Association is a scientific society with more than 2000 members. It was relaunched in 1997 from the former Brain Research Association. Beside publishing a scientific journal, it offers a variety of benefits to members, including discounts on books and reduced registration fees for meetings. In keeping with most Neurosience societies, the BNA requires members to have human brains. In addition the society produces the BNA Bulletin magazine for members and hosts a range of events, including a large biennial meeting.   • FinnFest USA

    FinnFest USA is a summer festival held annually in locations throughout the United States of America. Aiming to celebrate Finland, Finnish America, and Finnish culture, the festival is organized by a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with a national office maintained by its president, located presently in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The first annual festival was held in Minneapolis with approximately 1,000 people attending. Subsequent festivals have taken place in cities through the country, hosted by communities with connections to Finnish-American cultural history. Attendance has varied from 2,000 to 7,000, depending on location. Many attendants and performers and lecturers visiting from Finland. Festival events include lectures, concerts, films, theatrical performances, dances, exhibitions and ceremonies.
